Episode 98. | Katie Tomaszewski
If you’ve ever wondered about your relationship with alcohol, this episode is a must listen. Katie Tomaszewski and Jenna dive into a deep conversation surrounding sobriety and being “sober curious,” a new-ish term coined by author, Ruby Warrington.
Katie is a seasoned Pilates Pro, who found herself questioning her own relationship with alcohol after some life changes. Today, she runs a group called “Drynamics” that helps others go through this process of investigation with support. This episode is for everyone as it brings up the questions of our motivations for imbibing as well as for the experiences we wish to have in our lives. Thank you, Katie for this meaningful conversation!
Katie achieved her Bachelor’s of Applied Health Sciences from The University of Illinois in 2010. After having her daughter in 2009, she began to practice Pilates at Frog Temple Pilates in Chicago. Under the direction of Randi Whitman, she was certified as a Pilates teacher in 2014. In 2015, Katie was certified as a Prenatal and Postnatal Pilates Specialist by The Center for Women’s Fitness, under the direction of Carolyne Anthony.
Katie teaches clients in-studio and online. She is especially driven to work with those who have chronic pain due to injury or physical limitation. Katie is deeply involved in bringing awareness to the complex issues involved in Tension Myositis Syndrome (TMS), a psychophysiologic disorder (PPD). She advocates that emotional health is at the root of every pain symptom.
While Katie has worked with a wide spectrum of adults throughout her career, she feels particularly drawn to issues surrounding women’s health and motherhood. As an extension of her interest in emotional health and using Pilates as a tool of wellness, Katie launched the Drynamics online wellness program with the goal of helping women achieve personal and professional goals during a 13-week period of abstinence from alcohol. Through Pilates and online support, Katie reintroduces these women to both physical and emotional feeling as well as the paramount skill of listening to their bodies. Drynamics seeks to shift personal care practices from disconnection and detachment to self love and harm reduction.
